Most people seek counseling at those times when they are dealing with a crisis, cannot find workable solutions to problems or relationships, are having difficulty finding meaning in life, or are otherwise experiencing life in a different way from what has been expected.
These are often transition times when people have important decisions to make. Some people see things about themselves or others which they find confusing or fearful. Counseling provides a safe place where you can talk openly and explore your world and yourself in order that you may find clarity and understanding.
Healing is the ultimate objective. Clients can expect that counseling sessions will be kept confidential, except as otherwise required or permitted by law. Examples of times when confidentiality cannot be kept are when child or elderly abuse has occurred or when violence is threatened against another person.
